Memory Bears & Keepsakes

Some clothes are far too special to be left hidden away in a cupboard.

At Sew Eazy, we can turn treasured clothing into a beautiful memory bear, cushion or keepsake that you and your family can continue to hold onto. Each piece is carefully handmade in our Bonnybridge workshop using the fabric and details from the original garments.

Made From Clothes That Mean Something

Memory keepsakes can be made from clothing belonging to a loved one, baby clothes your children have outgrown or garments connected to a special time in your life.

Shirts, dresses, pyjamas, uniforms and other meaningful pieces can all potentially be used. Every garment is different, so we will look at the fabric and help you decide which type of keepsake will work best. Lead times vary depending on the item and time of year. If you need your keepsake for a particular date, please tell us when enquiring.

Memory Bears

Our memory bears measure approximately 30–38cm and are carefully constructed using around 20 individual fabric panels.

Using multiple panels allows us to include different fabrics, colours and recognisable details from the original clothing, making every bear completely unique.

Embroidered feet can also be added with a name, date or short personal message.

Memory bears with embroidered feet are priced from £80.

Please remember that memory bears are decorative keepsakes rather than toys, particularly when they include buttons, embellishments or delicate fabrics.

Memory Cushions

A memory cushion is a lovely way to preserve a favourite shirt, jumper, dress or other meaningful garment.

Where possible, we can retain familiar features such as pockets, buttons, embroidery or labels. They make thoughtful keepsakes and can be a good option when the original item has a particularly recognisable front or pattern. Prices for memory cushions and keepsake squares depend on the size, design and clothing supplied. Please contact us for a quote.

Keepsake Squares

Keepsake squares allow several family members to each have a small piece made from the same treasured clothing.

They can also be created from baby clothes, school uniforms or a mixture of meaningful fabrics. We will discuss the available clothing with you and explain what can realistically be made from it.

How It Works

Bring the clothing into Sew Eazy so we can look at the fabric, discuss what you would like and check that there is enough suitable material.

Before leaving anything with us, please check all pockets and make sure you are completely happy for the garments to be cut. Once the clothing has been cut, it cannot be returned to its original condition.

We understand that these items can be extremely precious, and every piece is handled with care throughout the making process.

How many garments will I need?

This depends on the size, style and fabric of the garments, as well as the keepsake you choose. Bring everything you may want included and we can advise you before any work begins.

Do the clothes need to be washed first?

Yes. All clothing should be clean and dry when it is brought into the workshop.

Can you include more than one person’s clothing?

Yes. Clothing from different family members can be combined into one keepsake, provided the fabrics are suitable.

Can you add a name or date?

Yes. Embroidered feet can be added to memory bears with a name, date or short message.

Are memory bears suitable for children to play with?

No. Memory bears are designed as decorative keepsakes and should not be treated as toys, particularly when the original clothing includes buttons, beads or other small details.
